Porsche in time for the holidays

Dutch Porsche now has a new 911 Carrera S that has been made specially for the holidays. How, you asked? Well, the special feature of this car is that it is covered in chocolate. That’s right, chocolate. Porsche has used 175 kilos of molten goodness and with a mixture of white chocolate that act as the headlights of the car.
One thing for sure, where is the showroom? We can’t wait to head over there for a lick!

Supercar Preview: Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG

Finally a little video of the new Mercedes-Benz’s SLS AMG car has been published. Watch as Mr Steve Fowler test this supercar. As of now, we know that this car cost £150,000. This car comes with a 6.2-litre V8 beast. It runs at the speed of 197mph. What the all the action right here.

2009: Best Bets

Cars.com proudly announced their Best Bets of the year in the SUV and Crossover category, the Hyundai Veracruz and Hyundai Santa Fe, respectively. Both cars were released in 2008. The judges, Cars.com , are the main destination online for the purchasing of cars. Cars that qualify to enter in the nomination must have a good rating in the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) frontal-offset and side-impact crash tests, average or higher reliability ratings and lastly, an average or higher gas mileage within their class.

In Production – Inflatable Seat Belts from Ford

In a midst to increase safety for drivers and passengers, car maker company, Ford, has introduced the first inflatable seat belts. They will start producing this safety item early next year. Since the front seat passengers already have air bags at their dispositions, these inflatable belts will be for the back seat passengers. Read more about Ford’s idea.

The Man behind Electric Cars in the UK
Gordon Murray is the man we are referring to. This man plans to make electric car prototypes that will change lives in the UK. Mr. Murray is the kind of man who believes that true innovation can only come from a clean-sheet-of-paper approach (his own words). This original thinker for car design is the one who designed the Brabham Formula One ‘fan car’ then went on to input the three-seater layout in the McLaren F1 road car which is space efficient. Volkswagen: Producing Greener

Volkswagen is now producing cars that they call would be ‘the beginning of the electrification of the car’. They claim that with the release of their new cars, they would be reducing the CO2 output by up to 11g/km. VW’s Polo Bluemotion is by far the cleanest fossil-fuel car out there. It gives an average of 83.1mpg and emits just 90g/km of CO2.

Driverless car to compete in the DARPA Grand Challenge

By now you should already know that Stanford University and Volkswagen are gearing up together to compete in the DARPA Grand Challenge which is a government-sponsored competition. Volkswagen invested over $5 million in their research with Stanford University. They are trying to develop the third-gen autonomous vehicle which is based on an Audi TT-S. This vehicle will be aimed to compete in the challenge like if it has a driver when in fact, it doesn’t. It is still under development and they have just had it tested whereby this teaser was released.

SEMA: Ford Mustangs

Usually at SEMA, there will be an abundance preview of Mustangs and this year, the event is no different. SEMA isn’t complete without its array show of Mustangs. The event will be held in Sin City, Las Vegas. While we wait for the real close up, Ford, in the meantime, released a preview of the Mustangs that we will view at the opening of the SEMA. We found the usual such as 3dCarbon, Galpin Auto Sports, H&R Springs, and Steeda. Take a look at the picture above for a better close up.

Gearing up for the Mini Countryman

This is what is getting everyone’s mind busy and at the same time, impatient. Why impatient? Well, rumor has it that BMW is making everyone wait as their main priority right now is the BMW X3. Not until they finish work on the BMW X3, will the work on Countryman start. In Austria, at Magna’s plant is where the Mini Countryman will be produced but in the meantime, BMW has to finish off production of their X3. Read more on this right here.
